Nyugati PU

The Sziget Train arrives at Nyugati PU station in Budapest on Saturday 4 August 2012.

After arriving in Budapest at Nyugati PU station with the Sziget Train, it's not difficult to get to the Sziget Festival.

Once outside the station, tram line 4-6 (direction: right) will take you across the Danube within three stops. At the first stop after the Danube, you should change to the suburban train in direction of Szentendre or Békásmegyer. Filtorigat is the stop closest to the Sziget Festival entrance, from there you can easily follow the other festival visitors.

Of course you can also take a taxi, but be careful with that! Never stop a taxi on the street, you might stop a 'cowboy', a taxi driver that will rip you off. It's much better to call an official taxi. This will always be cheaper than stopping a taxi on the street.

Bus to Sziget

In 2012 there will be for the first time a ‘party bus’ which travels from the UK (Manchester, Birmingham, London and Dover) and stops in Germany for a halfway point party night! There are also direct buses to the Sziget Festival 2012.

Our services are now live and the proposed itinerary is as follows:
*Friday 3rd August*. Depart from Manchester, Birmingham, London or Dover.

*Saturday 4th August*. Arrive in Munich, party capital of Germany, for a spectacular party with other Sziget-bound festival lovers from around Europe! Overnight stay.

*Sunday 5th August*. Jump back on board with your new found friends for the trip to the winner of the Best Major European Festival – Sziget!!!!!! Arrive in Budapest. Join in the fun at Sziget.

*Monday 13th August*. Time to go home.

MOTORWAYS

All Hungary’s motorways and most of her main roads radiate out from the capital. The M1, M3, M5 and M7 are toll motorways, and you must pay the appropriate toll (either at the border or at larger petrol stations) and display the windscreen sticker before joining the road. Road signs conform to continental standards. The wearing of seatbelts is compulsory in both the front and back seats, and only handless mobile telephones may be used whilst vehicles are in motion. The alcohol limit is zero. Speed limits are 50 km/hour (31 mph) in built-up areas and 90 km/hour (56 mph) elsewhere, except on dual carriageways (110 km/hour, 68 mph) and motorways (130 km/hour, 80 mph). The horn can only be used in built-up areas in an emergency. 24-hour roadside assistance is available from the Magyar Autóklub (Tel.: (+36-1) 345-1755), and emergency roadside help can also be called for by dialling 188.

Every half hour a Sziget ferry leaves from Batthyany Square (metro 2) and Jaszai Mara Square (Margit bridge). The ferries have sundecks and bars and they arrive on the backside of the festival island. The trip takes about 15-30 minutes and costs about 2 euro, not much for a fun Danube trip.
